Announcement about our Lincoln Place Apartments

Hi The Link Supporters,

The Link has greatly appreciated the CDA’s commitment over the past four years to providing affordable housing to youth in need. The partnership with Lincoln Place Apartments has been an excellent opportunity for The Link to expand its services into the south metro. The stories of youth that have benefited from access to affordable housing through Lincoln Place is truly a testament to the importance of programs that prioritize the need for housing. The need is great, and we appreciate what the CDA has done to advance the cause.

Although The Link has appreciated the partnership the two organizations’ missions, visions, and values do not align. The Link and the CDA have fundamentally different understandings of how to support diversity and inclusion, evidence-based practices and funding requirements for Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Programs. After careful consideration, we have decided that The Link will  be ending our partnership with the CDA by 12/31/17.

The Link’s current funding contract with Dakota County runs through the end of December, and The Link does not intend to submit a proposal to provide services in 2018 as part of the upcoming RFP process. We are providing this notice well in advance of the RFP process so that the Dakota County CDA has the time to solicit proposals from other service providers should they wish to continue offering services at Lincoln Place comparable to those currently provided by The Link.

The Link is committed to the youth residents of Lincoln Place.  We want to ensure their needs continue to be met during this period of transition. The Link will be coordinating with planning for 2018 and in making the transition as seamless as possible for the youth either to a new service provider selected by the CDA or to another housing program within The Link or the larger community that the youth is eligible for, would like to be a part of and who’s transfer has been approved by the CDA and the SMAC Coordinated Entry Process.

The Link is also working to develop a new supportive housing program for youth within Dakota County. We are currently in the process of fundraising for this new program and appreciate your support! There will be more details and announcements on this as they become available.
