School Matters helps youth reconnect with their education through on-site school and community support, social-emotional skill building opportunities, and connections to resources to support the entire family.

The Link’s School Matters Program provides one on one case management for youth who are experiencing truancy and at the highest risk of dropping out of school. Youth, ages 12-17, are referred by Hennepin County and can work with The Link for three months or more depending on individual circumstances.

School Matters case managers provide a positive, trusting adult relationship through intensive services during home visits, on-site support at school and in community settings. They ensure needs are met by connecting youth and families to resources for food, housing, mental health, employment, and more. In addition, case managers support academic engagement and achievement, and listen and help youth to problem-solve. School Matters offers social-emotional and asset-building groups to strengthen skills and expose youth to new opportunities and connect with peers.
